The European Union and the Republic of Turkey funded by the “Climate Change in Turkey in the field of Capacity Building Grant Program Kocaeli Metropolitan carried out by the Municipality” Kocaeli Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Climate Change Initiative “project under the project for the scope of high school students, young climate leaders training program was held.
A total of 97 people participated in the 3-day youth climate leaders’ training program organized by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department’s “Kocaeli Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Climate Change Initiative” project.
He organized a seminar to raise awareness about climate change in the training program. It was aimed to educate the students about the causes of climate change, the effects and the methods of struggle in the struggle with climate change, and to raise awareness in the field of climate change.
The Youth Camp also informed the students about the ways in which natural resources can be consumed individually in order to ensure that they are common to the solution of climate change problems, the social measures to be taken and the behaviors that students should exhibit as climate volunteers.
The young climatic leaders who have been in the youth camp for 3 days, organized by the Youth Services Branch Directorate under the Presidency of the Youth Services and Sports Department, gave the theoretical information about the students about the climate change. In the theoretical trainings, scientific bases of climate change, methods of combating climate change, greenhouse effect, temperature increase and measures to be taken against it were explained.
During the camp, in addition to the trainings given to the students within the scope of the activity program, a documentary film which will contribute to the struggle with the climate change and increase awareness was made. In addition, a survey was conducted to investigate the awareness of climate change, which is a global issue, at the local level, and to learn the views and knowledge of climate change.
